project description
Heartland Engineering has been privileged to again partner with the City of Winona, Missouri. Our firm has been entrusted to design and oversee the significant upgrades of their wastewater treatment and collection infrastructures. The collection system, spanning 17.6 miles, primarily employs 8-inch and 12-inch vitrified clay pipes (VCP) which have historically shown susceptibility to stormwater infiltration due to aging. The City of Winona has faced challenges with stormwater management for years, culminating in increased strain on the Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF). The WWTF is largely made up of a 175,000-gallon-per-day oxidation ditch, clarification basins, sand filters, and an ultraviolet disinfection setup.
Heartland Engineering is in the preliminary stages of formulating design solutions to rectify the City’s wastewater challenges. This $5.75-million initiative, backed by the American Rescue Plan Act, is current under design. Construction is projected to commence by mid-2024 and is set to conclude in 2025.
