project description
Drinking Water Treatment, Storage, and Distribution Improvements for the City of Neelyville
Drinking water system improvements were recently completed for the City of Neelyville in southern Butler County, Missouri. The project was successfully funded due to efforts by the city and Heartland Engineering staff. A Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) was written to outline the existing condition of the water facilities and provide preliminary design recommendations based on water usage data, analysis of system components, and engineering expertise. The existing infrastructure was mapped and a hydraulic model was created to provide a solid framework that could be used for both the preliminary and final design. The PER was submitted to Missouri DNR as part of an American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant application package. This resulted in the city receiving and award of $5,000,000 in grant money for drinking water system improvements. Heartland assisted the city in creating construction documents and bidding the project.
The construction includes replacing over 20,000 feet of water distribution line, new water meters, valves & hydrants, rehabilitation of the elevated storage tank, a new pressure step-down station, and repairs to the water department building . Construction on the project was completed in the summer of 2026.
