project description
Carter County PWSD #1 has faced long-standing challenges with drinking water production, storage, and distribution. With assistance from Heartland Engineering, the District has embarked on designing a new system-wide layout to replace much of its aging infrastructure.
Located near Van Buren, Missouri, the District contends with significant topographical variations. The system, which stretches “from mountaintop to valley,” requires the management of multiple pressure zones. Unfortunately, the original equipment was not designed to handle these pressure variations.
Heartland facilitated the District’s access to funding through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources State Revolving Fund (SRF), securing both grant and loan support to make the multi-million-dollar replacement project financially feasible for water customers. The project is currently in the final design phase, with construction anticipated to begin in mid-2005. The project will feature new deep rock wells, a well house, tanks, booster stations, and extensive amounts of new water distribution piping.
